Common Questions
What if my MOT is out of date?
An MOT is a legal requirement that ensures your vehicle is safe to drive and meets all current regulations to be used on the road. Driving without an MOT can result in a penalty of up to £1000.
Can I wait with the car?
The answer is Yes! If you would like to wait, please inform us when booking so we can arrange a timed appointment. Please arrive on time. There is a comfortable waiting area in Reception where a screen provides a clear view of the MOT test station.

What Is a Pre-MOT Check?
A pre-MOT check is an informal inspection carried out before your vehicle’s official MOT test. It’s designed to catch common faults early—especially those that could lead to a test failure—so you can address them in advance.
What Does a Pre-MOT Check Include?
Our pre-MOT check covers the key areas most likely to affect your MOT result, including:
-
Lights and indicators
-
Brakes and brake fluid
-
Tyres and tread depth
-
Wipers and washers
-
Horn and seatbelts
-
Battery and wiring
-
Engine fluids
-
Number plates
-
Exhaust and emissions
Why Have a Pre-MOT Check?
-
Reduce the risk of MOT failure
-
Identify issues before they become costly repairs
-
Avoid unexpected repairs on test day
-
Help keep your vehicle safe and roadworthy
Is a Service the Same as a Pre-MOT Check?
No. A service and a pre-MOT check are different, although they cover some of the same areas. A vehicle service focuses on routine maintenance, such as oil and filter changes, and checking the overall condition of your vehicle. During a service, we may identify issues that could affect an MOT result, helping you address them before the test. A pre-MOT check is specifically designed to identify potential MOT failures before your vehicle is presented for its MOT test.
Certification
• Pre-MOT Check: No certificate is issued.
• MOT Test: If your vehicle passes, you will receive an official MOT certificate. If it fails, a defect report will be provided.
Please ensure you specify whether you require an MOT, Service, or Pre-MOT Check when booking to avoid any confusion.
